The company began in 1963 as a distributor for Starflex skis, jointly manufactured by Dynamic and Les Plastiques Synthetiques. These new fiberglass skis, and the team's next creation for the 1964 Winter Olympics, the Dynamic VR7, motivated the company to move from distributing to manufacturing. The brand became Dynastar, a contraction of the names Dynamic and Starflex. In 1965 Les Ressorts du Nord bought the brand, and another Sallanches company, Aluflex joined them. The French ski team then secured 16 medals at the 1966 World Championships in Portillo.
